As someone who loves staying fit but struggles with workout-induced acne, I’ve found some skincare habits that truly help keep my skin clear and healthy. Firstly, always start your session with a clean face. Even if you use a tinted SPF, make sure no makeup or heavy products clog your pores. During your workout, avoid touching your face to prevent transferring sweat and bacteria. Using a clean towel specifically for sweat absorption can prevent irritation and breakouts. I’ve realized that the timing of cardio matters a lot. Doing cardio at the end of your workout minimizes the time sweat stays on your skin, reducing chances for bacteria to grow. Most importantly, shower and wash your face as soon as possible after exercising because sweat sitting on your skin for long periods can cause breakouts. One product I find indispensable is an antibacterial spray containing hypochlorous acid (HOCI). Spraying it on your face, back, or any breakout-prone areas during and after workouts helps keep bacteria at bay and soothes irritated skin. Remember, acne is common—even estheticians face it sometimes—so don’t get discouraged. With these simple skincare steps integrated into your fitness routine, you can chase your gym goals without letting acne hold you back.
