Hey everyone! Building on my quick GRWM for game day hair, I wanted to dive a little deeper into how I make my curls last through all the college excitement – from cheering on the team to dance competitions and even just looking polished for classes. As a college dancer, time is always short, and my hair needs to withstand a lot! Making Your Curls Last: Beyond the Hairspray! While my Beach Waver curling iron and Enjoy hair spray are absolute lifesavers, there are a few extra steps and tips I've learned that really lock in those curls, especially when you're aiming for something like elegant 'hollywood waves' or super secure 'competition dance hairstyles'. Prep is Everything: Before I even touch my Beach Waver, I always use a good heat protectant spray. It shields my hair from damage and gives the curls a better base to hold onto. Sometimes, for extra grip, I'll spritz a light texturizing spray on dry hair before curling. This is especially helpful if your hair is naturally very soft and struggles to hold a curl. Sectioning Smart: For those quick 10-minute curls, efficient sectioning is key. I usually divide my hair into 3-4 main sections: bottom, middle, and top. This ensures every strand gets attention without wasting time. For a bouncier look, I curl away from my face. If I want a softer, more 'hollywood waves' inspired vibe, I might alternate directions and then gently brush them out once they're cool. The Art of Pinning: This is a game-changer for longevity, especially for 'cheer hair' or dance performances! As soon as I release a curl from the Beach Waver, I gently re-roll it up to my scalp and secure it with a duckbill clip or a bobby pin. Letting the curls cool completely in this pinned-up position sets them beautifully. I usually leave them pinned until I'm ready to walk out the door, then gently release them. Layering Your Finish: After unpinning, I give my hair a good spritz of my Enjoy hair spray. But sometimes, especially for 'hairstyles for cheer pictures' or a big competition, I'll add a little extra. A light shine serum on the ends can make the curls look super healthy, and for humidity, an anti-frizz spray is my best friend. If I want more volume, a quick blast of dry shampoo at the roots (even on clean hair!) works wonders. Special Tips for Cheer Pictures & Competition Dance Hairstyles Security First: For high-energy activities, those curls need to stay put! Don't be afraid to use extra bobby pins. A small hairnet, subtly placed over the back of your head, can also work wonders for keeping everything tidy for 'competition dance hairstyles'. Half-Up, Half-Down Magic: My curls often look amazing in 'cheer pictures' when styled half-up. I'll secure the top section with a cute elastic or a few braided strands, letting the curls cascade down. This keeps hair out of my face while showcasing the beautiful curls. Taming Flyaways: For a super polished look, especially around the face, I'll use a tiny bit of hair gel or pomade on a clean toothbrush to smooth down any flyaways. This creates a really neat hairline that's perfect for intense 'competition dance hairstyles'. I hope these extra curling tips help you achieve beautiful, long-lasting curls, whether you're a college student rushing to class or hitting the stage for a performance! Experiment and find what works best for your hair – happy styling!
