ในฐานะคนทำสวนทุเรียน เราทุกคนรู้ดีว่าช่วงดอกบานถือเป็นช่วงเวลาสำคัญอย่างยิ่ง เพราะนี่คือช่วงที่จะตัดสินใจว่าเราจะได้ผลผลิตที่ดีหรือไม่ ฝนที่ตกในช่วงเวลานี้สร้างความวิตกกังวลให้กับเกษตรกรหลายราย เพราะองค์ประกอบหลายอย่างส่งผลต่อการติดผล ทั้งการผสมเกสรที่ต้องอาศัยละอองเรณูที่แห้งและแมลงผสมเกสร รวมถึงการรักษาสภาพแวดล้อมที่เหมาะสมเพื่อป้องกันเชื้อรา จากประสบการณ์ที่ได้ดูแลสวนทุเรียนของฉันเอง เวลาฝนตกในช่วงดอกบานโดยเฉพาะระหว่าง 1 ทุ่ม ถึงตี 3 จะเห็นผลชัดเจนว่าละอองเรณูเปียกเหนียวทำให้ผสมเกสรยากขึ้น นอกจากนี้น้ำฝนยังชะล้างน้ำหวานที่ออกจากดอก ทำให้กลิ่นดอกอ่อนลง ซึ่งแมลงและค้างคาวผสมเกสรไม่ออกหากินในช่วงนี้ตามธรรมชาติ ที่สำคัญความชื้นที่สูงมากยังเปิดโอกาสให้เชื้อรางอกงาม ส่งผลให้ดอกร่วงและเน่าเสียเร็วกว่าที่ควร เทคนิคที่ช่วยได้มาก คือ การวางแผนตั้งแต่ก่อนดอกบานเริ่มด้วยการตัดแต่งกิ่งให้โปร่ง เพื่อให้อากาศถ่ายเทและลมผ่านได้ดี ลดความชื้นในสวน และบำรุงต้นให้สมบูรณ์โดยเฉพาะเรื่องน้ำและธาตุอาหาร เมื่อฝนหยุดตกแล้ว ผมมักจะเร่งช่วยผสมเกสรด้วยการปัดดอกตอนกลางคืนเพื่อทดแทนความขาดแคลนละอองเรณู อีกทั้งยังใช้สารป้องกันเชื้อราที่ปลอดภัยกับดอกและผึ้ง เพื่อไม่ทำลายแมลงผสมเกสรธรรมชาติ หลังจากฝนหยุด การเขย่ากิ่งเพื่อลดน้ำขังบริเวณช่อดอกเป็นขั้นตอนที่ผมเน้นมาก เพราะน้ำขังนานจะเสียหายต่อดอกได้ และรีบจัดการระบบระบายน้ำในแปลงเพื่อห้ามไม่ให้เกิดความชื้นสะสมต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งวิธีนี้ช่วยลดโอกาสดอกร่วงและติดผลไม่ครบถ้วนได้อย่างเห็นผล ความรู้และการเตรียมตัวเหล่านี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าเราควบคุมสภาพอากาศไม่ได้ แต่วางแผนรับมือกับฝนในช่วงดอกบานของทุเรียนได้อย่างมีกลยุทธ์ ช่วยให้เกษตรกรมีความหวังและความมั่นใจมากขึ้นในการดูแลสวนช่วงหน้าฝน ซึ่งถ้าสวนใครกำลังมีดอกบาน ลองนำเทคนิคเหล่านี้ไปปรับใช้รับมือฝน รับรองว่าผลผลิตทุเรียนจะดีขึ้นแน่นอนครับ
