January 11 – Strength in the Waiting

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

— Psalm 27:14

Reflection

Waiting is rarely comfortable. We often want answers, direction, or change immediately, yet God frequently works in seasons rather than moments. Waiting is not wasted time—it is a place where faith is refined and trust is deepened.

When God asks us to wait, He is not withholding good from us. He is preparing us to receive it. Strength grows when we choose obedience over impatience, prayer over panic, and trust over control. Even when nothing seems to be happening, God is still working behind the scenes.

Waiting does not mean standing still in fear; it means standing firm in faith.

Reflection Question

Where is God asking you to trust Him while you wait, rather than rush ahead on your own?

Prayer

Lord, help me to wait with faith and not frustration. Strengthen my heart when answers feel delayed and remind me that Your timing is perfect. Teach me to trust You fully, even when the path ahead is unclear. I place my hope in You and choose patience over fear. Amen.

... Read moreThere’s something truly magical about the start of a new day, especially that quiet moment as the sun begins to peek over the horizon. For me, it's a perfect time for reflection, a chance to ground myself before the busyness of life takes over. Lately, I've been meditating on the idea of 'Strength in the Waiting,' and how crucial it is in our fast-paced world. We all face seasons of waiting – for a new job, a healing, a relationship to mend, or even just clarity on a decision. It’s rarely comfortable, is it? My natural inclination is always to rush ahead, to try and control the outcome. But I've learned, often the hard way, that true strength isn't found in forcing things, but in patiently trusting God's timing. This isn't passive inaction; it's an active posture of faith, a spiritual discipline that truly strengthens our faith. The words from Psalm 27:14, 'Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord,' have become a cornerstone for my morning reflections. They remind me that waiting is not wasted time. Instead, it's a sacred space where our inner resilience is built, and our trust in a higher plan is deepened. It's where God is working behind the scenes, often preparing us for something far greater than we could have imagined. I often visualize it like a seed underground – it looks like nothing is happening, but immense growth and transformation are occurring unseen. For my 'sunrise prayer reflection,' I often start by simply acknowledging the areas in my life where I’m currently waiting. I speak them out, not as complaints, but as invitations for God to work. Then, I consciously choose to lay down my impatience and pick up a spirit of trust. It’s a daily practice of saying, 'Lord, I will trust You while I wait, rather than rush ahead on my own.' This simple shift in perspective brings so much peace. I also find it incredibly helpful to journal during these morning moments. Writing down my thoughts, fears, and hopes, and then re-framing them through the lens of faith, helps solidify my commitment to patience. It’s a way to actively engage with the truth that God strengthens our faith and prepares us for His best. Sometimes, the 'waiting' itself is the preparation. It teaches us perseverance, deepens our character, and reveals aspects of God's faithfulness we might otherwise miss. This morning ritual of 'sunrise prayer reflection' isn't just about feeling good; it's about building spiritual muscles. It transforms moments of anxiety into opportunities for profound growth. When I intentionally choose to trust Your timing and believe that God is working for my good, even when I can't see it, I step into my day with a sense of calm and purpose that wasn't there before. It’s a testament to the powerful truth that in our waiting, we find incredible strength and a deeper connection to the divine plan for our lives. So, next time you're facing a period of waiting, consider making space for a quiet morning reflection. It might just change everything.
