Questions I Will Ask Myself Before I Buy New
1. Do I already own something like this?
In 2024 when I was spending most of my time on social media, I felt like I HAD to get this specific item because it was trending at the time. This is the first question I am going to ask myself to make sure that I am not just buying it because it’s the IT thing right now.
2. How often will I use this?
Realistically, I have a habit of buying something and only ever using it a handful of times before I get rid of it.
3. How will I feel about this item in a week/month/year?
Most often than not, I forget about new things I buy within a week. Any new purchase will be a long term decision and not an impulse.
4. Am I buying this to fill an emotional need?
Yes, I am most certainly calling myself out of this one. Majority of the purchases I made in 2024 were to cope with my health issues. I was purchasing things in the name of self care. This will stop in 2025 and will definitely hold myself accountable.
5. How long will it last?
In most cases, I tend to buy cheaper items thinking it is better, but I end of having to throw it away within a short time because of the cheap material! Will definitely consider this next time I think of buying something new.
