Part 4: Mini Vlog of Baby’s First International Trip ✈️👶

From leaving for Changi Airport to finally arriving at our hotel in Shenzhen, here’s what our then 6-month-old’s first international trip looked like. ✈️

We were nervous about flying with a baby for the first time, but everything went much more smoothly than we expected. 🥹

One thing we did during takeoff and landing: I gently pressed around his ears, hoping it would help with the pressure change. 👂✈️

One thing I’d do differently next time: choose an earlier flight if possible! ✈️

Hope this gives other parents a little confidence if you’re planning your baby’s first flight! ❤️

... Read moreTraveling with a baby for the first time can seem daunting, but based on my experience flying with a 6-month-old, it's definitely manageable with some preparation. One tip I found very helpful was gently pressing around my baby's ears during takeoff and landing. This simple action helped ease the discomfort caused by cabin pressure changes, often a trouble point for little ones. Feeding schedules are also something to consider carefully. In our flight, we were able to feed twice during the journey, once shortly after takeoff and again close to landing, which kept our baby calm and comfortable. It's a great idea to bring ample milk or baby food, as mealtimes might be disrupted or delayed. Another important point is choosing an earlier flight when possible. We learned this the hard way by arriving at our Shenzhen hotel around 3:30 AM, which made the day after quite tiring for all of us. An early flight can help align better with your baby's sleep schedule and leave more time to rest once you arrive. Packing smart is crucial too. We relied on a luggage-only check-in to minimize hassle, and having essential baby items such as a blanket, favorite toys, and a comforter within easy reach made a huge difference during the flight. Don't forget to check the airline’s amenities for parents traveling with infants; we appreciated the welcome gift from Singapore Airlines, which included helpful baby products. It's little comforts like this that can ease your travel anxiety. Lastly, always prepare for unexpected delays, like our one-and-a-half-hour taxi ride to the hotel after landing. Building in plenty of time and staying calm can help you enjoy these special moments more. If you’re planning your baby's first international trip, take heart—being well-prepared can make the journey smoother, and these memories will be priceless.
