Ungatekeeping this ramen place

📍 @Menya Saku by Oh Some Bowls

Authentic Japanese ramen spot run by an ex-ramen champion (Buta God!) 🇯🇵 Right beside the famous salted egg store. No GST & no service charge too🥹

👨🏻‍🍳 Fun fact: Chef is Japanese and has been cooking ramen for a decade. Different ramen bases even use different noodles — you can really see the skill 💯💯

🍜 Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($15)

Rich, creamy and super gao pork broth — full of flavour and milky goodness. Charsiew is smoky, not overly fatty and melts beautifully in your mouth. Comes with very perfectly cooked ajitama egg.

🥩 Niku Soba Ramen ($14)

My personal favourite! Springy noodles with clear broth — not too light, not salty, just pure umami and secret sauce?? Beef slices were well-seasoned, chewy and tender.

🙌🏽 Overall: Very generous portion, super filling. Love that they add vegetables into the bowl too 🥬 slurped everything clean😋🍜

... Read moreIf you’re exploring the ramen scene beyond the well-known chains, Menya Saku offers a unique experience that genuinely stands out. What struck me was how the chef applies traditional Japanese techniques with a decade of experience, resulting in a broth that's both rich and balanced. Aside from the signature Tonkotsu and Niku Soba ramen, the attention to detail extends to the noodles—each ramen uses a different type to complement the broth perfectly. I appreciated that the menu doesn’t follow the typical all-pork approach but offers options like beef slices in the Niku Soba, which were tender and well-seasoned. Another detail I loved was the inclusion of fresh vegetables in the bowls, adding a refreshing crunch and nutritional balance to what can sometimes be an overwhelmingly heavy meal. Also, the absence of GST and service charge makes it a great value for the quality served. Since it’s located right by the famous salted egg store at Sim Lim Square, it's a convenient food stop. I recommend arriving early or during off-peak hours as this hidden gem is fast becoming a favorite among locals who know their ramen. For those wanting a satisfying bowl with authentic flavors and generous portions, Menya Saku is definitely worth the visit. Slurping the noodles clean was a highlight of my foodie adventure!

Didn't expect to find ramen like this in Fortune Centre, but here we are. Ramen Story by Jinggho Shokudo is tucked away on level 4, and it's lowkey a solid find. The noodles are mee pok-style but made with Japanese flour (so not your usual yellow noodles), and the soup is chicken-based,
