Okay, so I know not everyone is a fan, but for me, there's something truly magical about winter. It's not just about the holidays; it's about the whole vibe! Those long winter nights, with the darkness enveloping everything early, just make me want to embrace comfort and coziness in every way possible – and that definitely includes my outfits. Forget fussy fashion; winter is prime time for practical yet stylish casual looks. When I think about my ideal casual winter outfit, it always starts with layers. It's all about being able to adapt as you go from a chilly outdoor walk to a warm indoor cafe. My go-to base is usually a soft, thermal long-sleeve tee. Over that, a chunky knit sweater is a must. Think oversized, soft wool or a fluffy blend that feels like a warm hug. I often choose earthy tones or deep jewel colors that fit that dark academia aesthetic I love. For bottoms, comfort is key. High-waisted jeans in a classic wash are always a winner, or for an extra cozy day at home reading a good book by the glow of candles, I'll swap them for fleece-lined leggings or soft corduroy pants. These are perfect for wrapping up in a blanket with a warm drink. Now, for outerwear, a stylish yet practical coat is essential. A long, wool-blend coat in a neutral color like camel, charcoal, or forest green instantly elevates any casual look. For something more rugged, a puffer jacket is unbeatable for warmth. Don't forget accessories! A thick, oversized scarf can add a pop of color or texture and is incredibly practical. Beanie hats are not just for warmth but also add a cute, laid-back touch. And on my feet? Comfortable, waterproof boots are non-negotiable. Whether it's Chelsea boots or combat boots, they need to keep my feet dry and warm. My perfect casual winter day look often involves a big sweater, leggings, chunky socks, and my favorite boots, completed with a practical parka. For a slightly more put-together look for a coffee run, I’d opt for dark wash jeans, a turtleneck, a long cardigan, and a wool coat. The beauty of winter fashion is that you can be incredibly stylish while prioritizing warmth and comfort. It's like the world slows down, and so does my wardrobe – in the best way possible. It is! I struggle w/ the seasonal change at first just bc it messes with my sleep so much. But after the first few weeks, give me a blanket, a heater, and put on the grinch and I’m back 😂😂
