saving for a home at 25
I saved up 20k for a house by being honest with myself about my spending. I stopped pretending small purchases didn’t matter and tracked everything… subscriptions, fast food, random Target runs. I set a separate savings account and treated it like a bill, no excuses. If the money never hit my checking account, I couldn’t miss it.
I also made uncomfortable sacrifices that people don’t like to talk about. I said no to trips, gifts, unfollowed influencers that made spending feel normal, and picked staying home over going out. It wasn’t fun, but it was temporary. Watching savings grow gave me more security and happiness than any impulse purchase ever did.
