Hamilton as Books

New series? I know I can’t be the only one obsessed with the theatrical release of Hamilton coming up. Unfortunately I don’t think y’all would like me to completely info dump on the entire history of the show (if you would speak now or forever hold your peace) so I gathered some books for you. Because that’s what I do, gather books for you to save and hopefully read later.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Out of the books I gathered I have only read the First Alex&Eliza book but I am planning to check out Revolutionary Mothers because I have been trying to find books on historical women.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

First we have the book that inspired Hamilton, Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton is a biography that compiled his writings and other people’s accounts. We have a lot of writings to get through because he’s a man who is always writing like he’s running out of time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Alex and Eliza series by Melissa De La Cruz, Author of Descendants, is all about the relationship between Hamilton and Eliza. It’s a historical fiction story that uses real people and a real event for inspiration. Shockingly there are multiple romance novels featuring Alexander Hamilton and other members of the founding fathers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hamilton’s Battalion is a trio of Romances written by multiple authors that are written to be taken as if they came from members of his battalion when Eliza “Interviewed every solider who fought by your side (she tells our story)”

From what I can tell they seem really good and like there is something for everyone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Revolutionary Mothers by Carol Berkin is a non-fiction novel about the women who stayed home and how they participated in the war. Because a revolutionary war takes many people. I feel like it needs to be on this list as an excuse for me to talk about how “And Peggy” saved her baby sister during a raid. During the raid by red coats and Native Americans she realized her baby sister was still in her crib by the door and she ran down to grab her. Reportedly she told them her father had gone to tell the town they were there and had a tomahawk thrown at her. They retreated when they thought her father was coming back with more towns people.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sharing Hamilton by Brian L Porter and Diana Rubino might be a Bizarre Book Club pick just because of the premise. This is another historical fiction book using both fictional characters and real people to create the story. Basically when the Reynolds’s affair is happening Eliza grows fond of a Handsome doctor all while there’s a vicious serial killer. It’s enough bizarreness to make me say that it might be a bookclub pick.

If you like this I will make more, I’m taking suggestions in the comments. What books do you think should fall in the Hamilton umbrella? What other Musicals should I give the book treatment? Do you want a full and complete history of the show when I make these?
