If you are reading this sure I'm lying I promise I'm not. I am a lame 23 year old who is either playing video games, working, reading or a combination.
Life updates: We (my boyfriend and I) have officially been living on our own for 3 months. The house is great and we finally met our neighbors last week when my sister was visiting. They were nice, older than us, probably 30s-40s. They chatted about my boyfriend's grandparents. I was shocked they didn't ask about his brother but my boyfriend doesn't think he went outside much. My sister is still planning on just making a room and moving in without me noticing I just have to remind her that I can't afford her dance bill, guitar lessons and how much it would cost to take her to these things. She thinks I'm just being mean to be mean. My other sister is mad I won't buy her more stuff.
My best friend's wedding planning is going great, she changed her mind on wedding colors and we are planning a trip to the craft stores to get stuff ready.
I read 5.5 books this week, I'm halfway through Kiss of the Basilisk and honestly I didn't expect it to be THIS spicy. Every thing else I put in my beautiful graphic.
It's tanning weather which is odd for March but I'm not going to complain because it boosts my mental health and helps me read more. My boyfriend also won't complain because the tanning pool is outside his office window since the rest of the yard is a slope.
... Read moreAs an avid reader who blends everyday life with a passion for books, I've found that balancing personal activities with reading enriches my weekly experiences. Recently, living independently has brought its own joys and challenges, much like the complex relationships and emotional depth found in the books I read this week.
For example, Lauren Asher's 'Final Offer' explores themes of family legacy and overcoming personal struggles, mirroring some of the adjustments we face settling into a new home and meeting neighbors. Similarly, R.F. Kuang's 'Katabasis' dives into darker themes of grief and perseverance, reminding me of the resilience required in life’s unexpected moments.
On a lighter note, the shift in wedding colors for my best friend's celebration has added excitement and creativity to my days, much like the engaging twists in the 'Naturals Novella' series which blends crime and youth genius. These stories not only entertain but inspire me to appreciate the small, meaningful changes in life.
I've also noticed how the unseasonably warm March days and tanning sessions positively affect my mental health and focus, much like a good book can brighten a difficult day. This personal routine highlights the importance of self-care alongside hobbies like reading and gaming.
Overall, integrating reading with everyday life—whether it's dissecting themes in queer horror stories by Chuck Tingle or navigating family dynamics—makes weekly updates a tapestry of growth, entertainment, and heartfelt moments. For fellow readers, I encourage exploring diverse genres and allowing your personal experiences to deepen your connection with the stories you love.
