Here’s the truth new born babies don’t have a clock. ⏰ They feed when they’re hungry, not on a strict schedule.

With my first, I tried sticking to the hospital’s “pump every 3-4 hours” rule… and it stressed me out without helping my supply. 😅 it might work best for breastfeeding (latching) mamas WHY because bottle-fed babies⬇️

➡️Don’t eat the same amount every feed

➡️Don’t eat exactly every 3 hour

➡️Have variable hunger from feed to feed.

Therefore, With my second, I listened to my baby and my body, but with one guideline: aimed to pump about every 2 hours for the first 8 weeks. The result? My milk supply doubled! If not quadruple.

Tips that helped me as an EP mom⬇️

1️⃣ Pump on demand, but aim for roughly every 2 hours in the early weeks. (I know sounds like alot) 👀

2️⃣ Focus on efficient sessions, not rigid timing quality over quantity. Try to be as stress free possible.

3️⃣ Stay nourished & hydrated ⚠️milk comes from a well-fed mama.

4️⃣ Track patterns, not minutes notice which sessions give the best output.

Mamas, remember🌸your milk knows your baby’s needs better than any hospital clock ever could. Every baby is different my two boys were not the same, and neither was my milk supply. 💛

... Read moreWhen I reflect on my exclusive pumping journey, the biggest lesson I learned was to trust my body's natural signals rather than rigid schedules. Many new moms feel pressured to adhere to hospital guidelines like pumping every 3 to 4 hours, thinking it ensures a steady milk supply. However, I found that this approach can cause more stress without delivering results, especially for bottle-fed babies who don't follow a strict feeding clock. Exclusive pumping requires attention to both your baby's unique hunger pattern and your own body's response. For me, aiming to pump about every 2 hours in the early weeks—rather than sticking to a strict timetable—made a huge difference. Not only did it help increase my milk production, but it also reduced anxiety because I could listen to my body's natural cues. Equally important was focusing on the quality of pumping sessions. Rushing through or becoming obsessed with pump duration was counterproductive. Instead, I aimed for efficient, relaxed sessions that prioritized output over clock-watching. Hydration and nutrition played a crucial role too. I made sure to drink plenty of fluids and eat nourishing, balanced meals, understanding that milk supply depends heavily on the mother's well-being. Tracking pumping patterns rather than exact times helped me identify which sessions yielded more milk. This insight allowed me to adapt my routine organically, making the process less daunting. Each pumping mom's experience is different—what worked wonders for me may vary for others—but tuning into your baby’s hunger and your body’s signals is vital. In summary, ditching the strict "pump every 3 hours" rule and embracing a flexible, demand-driven approach can empower new moms. It's okay to experiment and find the rhythm that supports both your milk supply and mental health. Remember, your milk knows your baby’s needs better than any hospital clock ever could.
