Building our dream house
I will be building soon. We decided not to go the bardominium route. So I’m starting over and need help! #buildingconstruction #builder #newconstructionhomes #newconstruction Alabama
Okay, so here's the real talk: building a dream home is a journey, and honestly, we hit a crossroads early on! Originally, we seriously considered the barndominium route. I mean, who doesn't love the idea of that rustic charm and open concept? But after a lot of research and weighing pros and cons, we realized it just wasn't the right fit for our family's long-term vision. We wanted something that felt a bit more traditional yet still embraced modern comforts, and that's when the modern farmhouse style completely captured my heart. Now that the barndominium idea is off the table, the real fun (and challenge!) of finding the perfect house plans begins! I've been poring over countless modern farmhouse rendering examples, trying to visualize our future. Curb appeal is huge for me – I want a home that instantly feels welcoming and beautiful from the moment you drive up. We're looking at various layouts, from charming 3,077 Sq Ft designs with a lovely master suite and 2-car garage to more expansive 3,877 Sq Ft options featuring a grand great room and even a 3-car garage. It's fascinating to see how many square feet is this house really impacts the feel, and how each floor plan utilizes space, whether it's an owner's suite tucked away for privacy, a bustling family room perfect for gatherings, or the seamless flow between a beautiful kitchen and dining area. One thing that's really important is finding plans that offer versatile spaces. We're definitely keen on having bonus room plans – a dedicated study for work or even a flexible gathering room that can adapt as our needs change. While we haven't pinpointed a 5 bedroom house plan single story specifically yet, we're keeping an eye out for designs that offer ample bedrooms and flexible sleeping arrangements, whether that's expanding an existing plan or looking at two-story options that feel cohesive. The square footage varies greatly, with options like 3,699 Sq Ft being a strong contender, which feels just right for our family without being overwhelming. And let's talk about outdoor living! The renderings often show beautiful screened porch designs, lanai areas, or even spacious rear porches and outdoor living spaces. These are non-negotiables for us; I imagine enjoying my morning coffee out there. Even practical elements like detached garages are part of the consideration, adding to the overall aesthetic and functionality. We're also thinking about our lot's specifics, like potential 7.5 m frontage house plans, and how those dimensions influence the available floor plan choices and our desired curb appeal. It’s a lot to take in, but seeing these Transitional Charm plans makes me so excited. It's not about renovating old homes renovated, but creating a brand new home that embodies that timeless, lived-in feel from day one. I'm excited to share more of this journey as we narrow down our options and get closer to breaking ground on our very own dream modern farmhouse!
