You spend so much time forming your clay, getting that perfect shape for your pottery piece, whether it's a delicate pottery bowl or a sturdy pottery mug, and then it's time to add that magical layer that will transform it. I know I just dove right in with a new glaze without test tiles (oops!), but for those of you who might be starting out or trying a new technique, making test tiles is truly a lifesaver. It’s like a sneak peek into how your glaze application will behave on your specific clay body and at your kiln’s temperature. You get to see the color, texture, and how thick or thin to apply it, all before committing to your finished unglazed pieces.
