Do gender roles actually matter in 2025?

Do gender roles really matter in 2025? Personally, I don’t think so when it comes to everyday household chores. For example, I don’t wash a single dish in my house and that’s something my husband takes care of. In return, I’m the one who cooks dinner. I’ll clean and organize the living room, while he’s in charge of laundry.

For us, it’s not about who’s the “husband” or the “wife,” it’s about dividing things in a way that works best for both of us and keeps our home running smoothly.

However, with that being said, I do still believe there are certain areas where traditional roles play a part. My husband is the protector of our household, and that’s a role I naturally look to him for. Even though I work and contribute financially, he takes on a bigger portion of the mortgage, and I appreciate that balance. He’s also the one who plans surprise trips and creates special moments for us, which makes me feel cared for in a way that’s different from just splitting chores!

At the end of the day, I think it’s all about finding what works for your relationship, rather than sticking to outdated rules. But it does make me wonder... what are your thoughts on gender roles in 2025? Do they still matter, or are they becoming irrelevant? Let me know in the comments!

No, its compromise and finding what works for each relationship. Each couple is different with their own strengths and weaknesses. So each relationship is going to require give and take.
