Can I be honest for a second?

I'm an author and content creator, but these last couple of months have been wild! It's like shouting into a void sometimes, and as someone who values real community with people, it's been disheartening. And I know part of the problem lies with me 🙈

I've been so inconsistent lately!

I've been choosing to watch anime and play video games rather than posting content. Rest and destress is important, but I may or may not have been taking it a bit far. In between writing my next book (anyone like necromancers? 👀), recording my podcast, creating long form content, and launching my book club, being present on socials has truly slipped by the wayside. And that's on me.

As an introvert, I kinda love being in my own bubble! It's a challenge sometimes to break out of it, but it's worth it when I do and I'm able to connect with people. So, this is me admitting that I am the problem 😂 But I'm still here! Doing my best to find the people who like to read books about Black girls who aren't all that nice and who support Black authors.

If that's you, say hi! Let's be homies 🥰

... Read moreAs a content creator and author, it’s common to feel overwhelmed amid the pressures of social engagement and content consistency. This experience is relatable to many in creative fields. Embracing rest and downtime, like enjoying anime and video games, can rejuvenate creativity, albeit sometimes at the expense of regular content output. Reflecting on these moments, introverts might find comfort in their bubbles, yet the importance of connecting with peers, such as fellow Black authors and readers, continues to shine through. It becomes essential to strike a balance between self-care and community engagement. Not only can communities like #blackgirlwriters foster a sense of belonging, but they also provide opportunities for collaboration and support. Engaging with others can reignite the passion for storytelling and showcase diverse narratives that resonate with wider audiences. Crafting a community that celebrates unique voices, particularly those of marginalized authors, enhances the overall literary landscape. As we navigate the intricacies of content creation, let’s remember to inspire and uplift each other in the journey of storytelling.

I feel you on this one. I’m still looking for some sort of balance myself on content creation and actually doing the thing I want to create content about. It is hard, and only continues to be so. Take care of you, ad I hope you find balance. ❤️
