December furmeet!!
Wow, thinking back to the December furmeet in Durham just brings a huge smile to my face! It was genuinely one of the highlights of my year. If you've never been to a furmeet, let me tell you, it's an experience unlike any other. Imagine a place where everyone is just so happy to be themselves, sharing their incredible creativity through their fursuits, and connecting with like-minded people. That's exactly what I found in Durham. The energy was absolutely infectious! I saw so many amazing fursuits, each one a unique work of art. There was this super charming fox-like character with really vibrant red hair, and another adorable one that looked like a fluffy, light brown cow – so cute! It’s incredible how much detail and personality goes into each suit. We spent a lot of time just chatting, taking photos, and just generally soaking in the positive vibes. I even spotted a really cool bird-like furry in a green jacket sitting by the river, and another one with a black and white design partially submerged in leaves – the creativity is endless! What really struck me was the sense of community. Everyone was so welcoming, whether you were a seasoned fursuiter or just attending your first furmeet. It’s a safe and inclusive space where you can truly express yourself. We had a great time outdoors, which was perfect for showing off all the different suits. Seeing three furries in festive sweaters posing for a photo, showing off their paws, really made me feel the holiday spirit, even if it was a bit chilly! One furry even had a Santa hat, which was a lovely touch. If you're curious about the furry fandom or thinking of attending a furmeet, I highly recommend it. Don't be shy! Most communities, like the one in Durham, are incredibly open and excited to welcome new faces. You don't even need a fursuit to attend; many people come in partials or just as observers to enjoy the atmosphere and meet new friends. It's all about sharing a common interest and having a fantastic time. These gatherings are fantastic for making new connections and creating lasting memories. I'm already looking forward to the next one, hoping to see even more fantastic fursuits and make new friends in the community.
