tiny cactus

i bought a tiny cactus today

i held the small pot and looked down

seeing, within my palms, the whole universe

this little cactus, containing star dust

just like myself

seeing, within my palms, my eyes looking back at me

what a tiny cactus

holding sunlight and water within

just like me

we are one, but so entirely different

we both have sharp edges,

keeping us protected from predators

keeping us safe from a harsh world

we both have beautiful flowers,

blooming delicacy,

radiating warmth

we both need love to survive,

kindness and compassion to grow,

empathy to stay soft

oh, little cactus, how i love you so

you show me that i am the whole universe

made up of exploding stars,

beauty, strength, flowers, dirt, water, green

and all that lies in between

In our hectic lives, these delicate beings remind us of the beauty that exists in every corner of the universe, much like the interconnected tapestry of our own experiences. They thrive in harsh conditions, showcasing nature's ability to adapt and survive, much like us. Our lives mirror the cycles of nature, where love, kindness, and empathy foster growth and softness amid adversity. This reflection on a tiny cactus inspires us to acknowledge our strengths while embracing vulnerability. The beauty found in nature is often a reflection of ourselves. Each cactus, unique in its own right, holds the promise of blooming flowers despite its spiky exterior. This resonates with the idea that we may present a tough facade while harboring a heart that seeks warmth and connection. As we nurture these plants, we also remind ourselves that we, too, flourish when we are watered with love and care. In a world that can feel overwhelming or cruel, the tiny cactus stands as a poignant reminder of our innate beauty and strength. The interconnected nature of all living things demonstrates that we are all part of a greater universe. Much like the cacti that endure through the storms, we have the power to love deeply and be loved in return, creating a fellow ecosystem of support and growth. So, let us celebrate the beauty of tiny cacti and recognize their symbolism in our lives—a reflection of resilience, love, and the magnificence of the natural world.
