Anubis

Hey everyone! So many of you have been curious about my amazing companion, Anubis, since I first shared a glimpse of him. As you can see from the stunning picture of him standing proudly on a paved road with that beautiful sunset sky in the background, he's a truly majestic black Cane Corso. I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what it's truly like to have such a powerful and loyal breed in your life. One of the most common questions I get asked is about his temperament, especially since Cane Corsos can look quite imposing. While their appearance might suggest an 'evil' or 'scary' demeanor to some, nothing could be further from the truth with Anubis. He embodies the true characteristics of a well-socialized Cane Corso: fiercely loyal to his family, incredibly intelligent, and surprisingly gentle. He’s always alert and protective, which is part of why I chose this breed, but he's also a big softie who loves cuddles and playtime. Training was absolutely key from a very young age to channel his natural protective instincts positively, ensuring he's well-behaved and friendly with people he knows. We focused heavily on positive reinforcement and consistent obedience, which has made him an absolute dream to live with. Now, about his name! Yes, Anubis is quite a name, often associated with the ancient Egyptian god. When we were choosing his name, we loved the strong, noble, and watchful connotations of the god Anubis, which we felt perfectly matched the inherent qualities of a Cane Corso. It’s a powerful name for a powerful dog, but rest assured, my Anubis is a very real, very cuddly dog, not a deity! He’s always up for an adventure, whether it's a long walk, a trip to the dog park, or just chilling by the pond near our home, keeping a watchful eye on everything. He truly is my 'real Anubis dog,' bringing so much joy and a sense of security to our home. Living with Anubis is an absolute joy, but it also comes with responsibilities, as with any large, powerful breed. These dogs thrive on companionship and mental stimulation. We spend a lot of time on walks, engaging training sessions, and just playing in the yard. Their strong physique means they need regular, structured exercise to stay happy and healthy – think daily walks, runs, or even some dog sports. Beyond physical activity, mental enrichment is crucial to keep their intelligent minds busy and prevent boredom. I often use puzzle toys and engage him in 'brain games' to challenge him. If you're considering a Cane Corso, be prepared for a dedicated, intelligent, and strong-willed companion who will become an integral part of your family. They truly are unique dogs, and Anubis makes every day an adventure, filling our lives with his majestic presence and unwavering loyalty.
