Ladies — save this list and start using food as your advantage not against you.
Most people are eating every day without knowing what their food is actually doing inside their body.
These 8 facts changed how I think about nutrition and how I coach every single one of my clients.
Which fact surprised you the most?
I've personally found that understanding the real impact of what we eat can totally change how we approach food. For instance, knowing that salmon offers more omega-3s per serving than fish oil supplements pushed me to include it more often in my meals, which really helped with my energy levels and inflammation. Spinach having more calcium per cup than a glass of milk was a game changer, especially for those of us who don’t consume dairy regularly. I started adding spinach to smoothies and salads, and it made a positive difference in my bone health. Blueberries aren’t just tasty; they’re proven to improve memory and brain function. Including a handful daily became a simple way to support my cognitive health. Another tip that helped was eating cottage cheese before bed because of its slow-digesting protein, which supports muscle repair overnight – something I never knew before. Ginger’s anti-inflammatory effects being comparable to ibuprofen was surprising too. I use fresh ginger tea to soothe minor aches and inflammation naturally, which feels much gentler on my body. Realizing that magnesium deficiency can cause poor sleep and increase belly fat motivated me to track my magnesium intake. Now, I include magnesium-rich foods or supplements, helping me sleep better and reduce stress. One practical habit I adopted is eating protein first at meals, which helps reduce total calorie intake by up to 20%. It’s a simple strategy to control appetite and manage weight effortlessly. Finally, pairing turmeric with black pepper to enhance absorption by 2,000% made me rethink how I cook and season food. This combo maximizes turmeric’s health benefits, especially for inflammation and joint health. All these food facts have changed not only my diet but how I coach others to optimize their nutrition. Using food intentionally as fuel really empowers me and my clients to feel better every day.
