Three years ago I was depressed, cleaning my messy room, wondering if anyone would ever support the work I’d been doing for free for years.
I had been showing up for my community for 3 years… answering questions, making content, holding space… and when I finally built my Resource Hub, I was terrified no one would join.
Today that same space has 462 members.
This is your reminder:
The season where it feels like no one is watching, no one is supporting, and nothing is working… is often the season that’s preparing you for everything you prayed for.
To my younger self in that video:
You had no idea how many people you were about to help.
And to anyone building something right now…
Keep going. 🤍
Building a supportive community takes patience and consistent effort, especially when initial results feel discouraging. From my experience, the most challenging period often comes when your work feels invisible—when you’re putting in hours answering questions, creating content, and holding space without clear feedback or recognition. That season, although difficult, is crucial as it lays the foundation for the connections and impact you hope to achieve. I remember worrying about whether people would ever notice or appreciate the free resources I shared. Doubts about membership sign-ups or engagement numbers are common feelings, especially when starting out. However, by consistently showing up and prioritizing transparency with the community, you build trust that attracts and retains members organically. For example, weekly calls and open conversations create a sense of belonging that encourages commitment over time. The growth from a handful of people to hundreds is rarely linear, but every small step matters. Celebrating incremental wins and reminding yourself that each question answered or piece of content published is helping someone can shift your mindset positively. The fear of neglecting other life aspects while focusing on community work is also real; finding balance is key to sustainable progress. If you are currently building something—whether a community, project, or platform—know that the season of feeling unseen and unsupported is often the preparation phase for future success. Keep your vision in mind, remain authentic, and engage consistently. Your dedication today will determine the lives you impact tomorrow.
