Every day I’m minding my business… and every day the internet got something to say.
An opinion about Black women.
An opinion about single mothers.
An opinion about people living with herpes.
An opinion about content creators.
At some point I realized… there will always be something about me that makes somebody uncomfortable enough to speak on it.
But here’s the difference
while they’re talking, I’m building.
My habits build me.
My discipline grounds me.
My self-talk restores me.
So no… I don’t feel the need to respond to every opinion.
Because the more you pour into you, the less outside noise has somewhere to land.
Everybody got something to say…
but not everybody is doing the work.
I am.
In today's world, criticism and unsolicited opinions are unavoidable, especially for those who live openly and authentically. From experiences shared online to personal challenges, opinions on identity, lifestyle, or health conditions like living with herpes often flood social platforms. However, what truly matters is how we respond and channel that energy toward growth. One powerful way to maintain your emotional wellbeing is through consistent self-care habits. Whether it’s setting daily routines that empower you or engaging in activities that nurture your mind and body, disciplined habits form the foundation of inner strength. For example, journaling your thoughts or practicing mindfulness can help regulate emotions and reduce the impact of external negativity. Equally important is the practice of positive self-talk. The phrase recognized in the images, "and this is how I talk to myself in the mirror," highlights how affirmations and encouraging words can restore confidence and resilience. Replacing self-doubt with empowering statements reinforces your sense of worth and keeps destructive opinions from taking root. Moreover, pouring effort into building your skills, creativity, or business enables you to focus on progress rather than distraction. It's common to encounter judgments about identity, like race, motherhood status, or health conditions, but redirecting that energy into productivity empowers you to define your narrative. Remember, while everyone may have something to say, not everyone is committed to doing the work it takes to grow and evolve. By embracing these strategies, the noise of criticism loses its power. You expand your capacity for self-compassion and resilience. This mindset shift helps maintain focus on your goals and keeps external judgments from derailing your journey. Ultimately, true strength comes from within: building habits, practicing discipline, and continuously restoring yourself through positive self-talk.
