For example, I'd find myself stuck in worries about the future or outcomes that were often out of my hands. This repeated cycle only reinforced my sense of being trapped. Another trap involves the constant dopamine hits from quick digital inputs like social media and notifications, which lead to fleeting highs followed by crashes and numbness. Taking deliberate breaks—like cutting off digital distractions for at least 30 minutes daily—helped me disrupt this dopamine-driven cycle and brought clarity and calm. I also recognized the "identity trap," where limiting beliefs such as "I'm not disciplined" kept me stuck in patterns of inaction or self-sabotage. Challenging these beliefs through conscious reflection and affirmations gradually weakened their hold, allowing me to develop healthier habits and greater self-trust. Breaking these loops requires mindful awareness and intentional actions to starve the fuel sources feeding the cycles. This means naming the trance of fear and confusion, understanding how our attention is hijacked, and taking concrete steps to disrupt repetitive, automatic behaviors. The freedom I experienced once I started this process felt like reclaiming my sovereignty — moving beyond being a passive participant in my own mind and life.
