We’re currently in 1st place, but the couple behind us keeps catching up—and we only have a few days left to win.
This isn’t just a contest for us—it’s a chance to give my husband Colin a safe, healing space at home. Just 2 months after buying our forever house, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He has undergone chemo since October of 2024 and on July 18 he was finally able to receive a bone marrow transplant. He is currently having complications due to his compromised immune system. We planned to fix up our home ourselves, but his health made that impossible.
If we win, we can finally make our home livable and supportive for his recovery.

... Read moreLeukemia is a serious blood cancer that affects the body’s ability to produce healthy blood cells, often requiring aggressive treatments such as chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. For patients like Colin, whose immune system is compromised due to treatment, a carefully adapted living environment is crucial to minimize infection risks and promote healing.
Creating a healing space at home can significantly improve the quality of life for leukemia patients. This includes features such as sterile air filtration, easy access to medical supplies, comfortable resting areas, and spaces designed to reduce stress and anxiety. These modifications can be life-changing for patients recovering from intensive treatments and complications.
Community support plays a vital role during this journey. Competitions like "America's Favorite Couple" not only provide financial assistance but also raise awareness about the challenges faced by families dealing with cancer. By voting for Colin and his spouse, supporters help bring attention to the importance of compassionate care environments.
It is also essential to understand the timelines and urgency in such campaigns. The voting deadline of August 7th highlights the immediacy of the need, encouraging daily participation to maximize chances of winning the resources necessary for Colin's recovery.
For those inspired to support others facing similar battles, educating yourself on leukemia and the benefits of home adaptations can enhance empathy and advocacy efforts. Sharing personal stories, spreading awareness on social media, and participating in fundraising or voting efforts can collectively make a significant difference.
In summary, every vote for Colin and his spouse represents hope, resilience, and the community’s commitment to healing. By helping them secure a supportive home, contributors not only assist in a critical physical recovery but also reinforce emotional bonds built through love and perseverance.
