🏔️Hiking to Gold Cord Lake

When I visited the Palmer area, hiking to Gold Cord Lake in Hatcher Pass was an absolute highlight! This short 1-mile trail climbs through gorgeous alpine scenery, leading to a stunning glacial tarn tucked into a steep-sided bowl high above the valley.

The views are incredible—deep blue waters surrounded by rugged peaks, with Fishhook Valley stretching below. The trail is family-friendly, with a gentle grade most of the way and a few switchbacks near the end.

Pro Tips:

✨ Visit mid-summer to early fall for the best conditions.

✨ Park in the lower lot if you’ll finish after the gate closes.

✨ Take time to relax by the lake and soak in the beauty.

✨️ Remember to stop at Turners Corner for some soft serve on the way home...their flavors are legit 😋
