Hit plus Excel with AI power.
Micrsooft has just released a new feature that many people would like, Excel Copilot. This function comes in the formula = COPILOT (), where we can type AI instructions directly from the cell. No need to open a separate Copilot window.

The task is simple. Just enter the human language prompt command and refer to the required range of data. Copilot will display the results as text, lists, or even tables that are automatically distributed into the grid, as if we were using a normal Excel formula, but with AI power to think instead.

For example, if we type = COPILOT ("Summarize as 5 bullet points," A2: A500), a long piece of information becomes a Bullet summary, or if we want to categorize feedback, "Classify this feedback" and point to the cell range.

The cool thing is that Copilot understands a natural language, for example, if we type the name of a country in a cell and use the formula = COPILOT ("List airport codes from major airports in," E3), we get the airport code of that country, and if we change the value in the cell to another country, the result will change immediately.

It is very suitable for people to make reports, summaries, comments, or even mobilize initial ideas from raw data without leaving Excel. It also helps marketing teams, suppliers, or managers who need to make data more "storytelling."

But it must also be understood that Copilot is not suitable for all tasks, as if it were to add simple numbers such as = COPILOT ("Sum these values," A1: A10), this is more than necessary, because Excel itself is more direct.

Microsoft also says that the data sent into Copilot is not used to train the model. It is only used to generate our specific results and has a quota of runs per hour. This feature is already open on Excel Beta, both Windows and Mac. For those who subscribe to Microsoft 365 Copilot, it is another step towards making Excel a single thinking, analyzing and storytelling tool.
