Microsoft Overtime Gives Windows 10 Free Update 1 Year Add But...
Microsoft had a surprise for Windows 10 users before the supply time expired because it recently announced that people in the European Economic Area (EEA) would be entitled to an additional one-year security update for free without using a Microsoft account or sharing any information with the company.

Microsoft originally planned to let people who wanted to continue using Windows 10 join the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program by buying 12-month permissions for $30 or redeeming them for 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or at least having to back up through a Microsoft account to get free permissions.

Most recently, Microsoft confirmed that users in Europe don't have to do anything with the right to continue using, explaining that the change was made to comply with local laws and expectations, while helping users make a smooth transition to Windows 11 without a major security update yet.

At the same time, the Euroconsumers group said it was satisfied with the decision because it did not require users to commit to Microsoft's add-on services, such as backups, points use, or Rewards that were previously perceived to be contrary to the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
