OpenAI sent ChatGPT Atlas into the field. 🍋
OpenAI launched a new browser called ChatGPT Atlas with ChatGPT embedded in it. It allows us to browse the web and talk to AI along the way on a single page. It doesn't have to switch between web and app. It looks like Chrome or Safari, but it adds full AI capabilities. It is now available for download on macOS first. Windows, iOS and Android will follow soon.
.
ChatGPT Atlas is designed to be easier to use and smarter. For example, we can type a URL or ask ChatGPT immediately from the same channel. While entering the web, call Sidebar to talk to ChatGPT. For example, help summarize the content of the web page, compare information, or help plan a trip. It can also help write text on the web page, such as email or post board, in real time.
.
Another notable feature is Browser Memories that remembers things that we've looked for or seen before. If you've been looking for a job, the system will retrieve old data to summarize the market trends. If you don't want to remember, it will be closed. Agent Mode will let ChatGPT work instead, such as searching shopping or organizing trips, without access to other local apps or personal information for security.
.
ChatGPT Atlas is the opening of a new battle with Google Chrome, which also dominates 70% of the browser market worldwide. OpenAI hopes to change user behavior from conventional link search typing to using AI that "thinks, makes conclusions," in one place. It's another big step that could change the way people use the Internet forever.
