Microsoft encountered a problem in Windows that prevented some users from installing the Desktop version of the Microsoft 365 app. Microsoft has already recognized a bug from the identity verification system settings and is speeding up the fix update.

A report from BleepingComputer indicates that this problem will occur during the installation of Microsoft 365 Desktop Apps and make the installer unable to resume immediately. The affected versions include Microsoft 365, version 2508 (Build 19127.20358) and version 2507 (Build 19029.20294). If anyone experiences this condition, check the version. Users who install it normally may have received the patch.

The origin is caused by a misconfig set of authentication elements, resulting in the inability of a number of users to install the app normally. This problem is classified as a serious occurrence, code OP1186186, because it has a broad impact and must be quickly corrected.

The Microsoft 365 team is now tweaking all erroneous confixes, with the fix build for the 2508 version verified and starting to release gradually. The 2507 version is under final review. The fix release is expected soon.
