The trend of criticism has continued for weeks. Most recently, Discord announced the postponement of its Global Age Assurance plan for the second half of 2026 to return to improving the details and guidance of new communications more clearly. The company's management has directly acknowledged that previous communications misled many to force all users to confirm their identity. In fact, less than 10% of users are expected to have to confirm their age. More than 90% will be able to use it normally without doing anything.

Discord explains that internal systems can estimate age ranges from multiple data areas, such as account age, payment method, and usage behavior, confirming that private chat messages are not read.
