Can't sit and get up and fight by yourself
After Apple launched the MacBook Neo, it was considered one of the moves that made a ripple blow to the Windows notebook market, not least because this is the first time in years that Apple has sent notebooks at an easily accessible price level down to seriously competing in the mass market.
.
What brings the MacBook Neo attention is not only its price, but also its premium assembly work, strong aluminum body, lightweight, long-lasting battery, as well as macOS strengths known for stability and efficient resource management. This results in not using very high spec, but it can still provide a fluid experience. Unlike in the past, to use a MacBook, this quality requires much more expensive.
.
While looking back at the Windows Notebook market at a price range of around 20,000 baht, many models have a better specification advantage - ram, storage, or connected ports - but in terms of assembly, lightness, and overall experience, many models are not fully compatible with the MacBook Neo.
.
Intel also seemed to see this problem, launching Project Firefly, a new project aimed at upgrading cost-effective notebooks to better quality, specifically those based on the Intel Core Series 3 or Wildcat Lake platforms, which are chips designed for entry-to-intermediate notebooks.
.
Intel's goal is to make it possible for everyday users to access notebooks that are good enough for working on documents, meeting online, browsing the web, and watching content.
.
Intel's approach is to apply ideas from the smartphone industry to notebook manufacturing - using a combination of standard Interface, Adapter Board and Barebone Platform designs that manufacturers can build on, as well as working with the supply chain to reduce the overall cost of the unit.
.
The result Intel wanted was a Windows notebook that still had a tangible price, but a light, good-looking and practical design, not a low-cost machine that had to be redeemed for too much bold, heavy, or inferior experience.
.
Intel also showed Reference Design under the Clean-D Design concept, which is only about 11 millimeters thin, with a metal body and a fan-cooled design to reflect the image of a new low-cost notebook that looks closer to a premium machine.
.
For the first generation of products under this project, it will be the Lenovo Lecoo Air 14, while Intel reportedly plans a design push under Project Firefly of more than 70 future variations, reflecting that the project was not built for a single notebook model, but a new approach for Ecosystem of all Wildcat Lake notebooks.
.
If the idea is successful, users on a tight budget may see thinner, lighter, better-assembled Windows notebooks for less than $20,000 in the future, which could become Intel's key weapon against the MacBook Neo and Arm notebooks that are continuing to grow in popularity.
