I Almost Failed Physics But Then Did This...

Story time to when I was taking Physics for Engineers (which I think is harder than the normal physics bc it kicked my a** lol). I was doing so badly in the class and really suffering in the labs too. It seemed like everyone else was understanding the material and equations and they were keeping up just fine. I felt so terrible and I just thought I would never learn physics.

Well one day I reached out to the girl I sat next to in the lab, and asked her what her secret was. She gave me these 5 tips that helped me PASS the class! Now I’m passing them onto you so that you never have to fail a class!

Use different colored pens for different types of info. I decided to use pink for all important equations and that really helped me be able to skim my notes way faster.

Start every study session with a quiz. Create a fake practice quiz using ChatGPT and figure out what you already know. Then spend your time studying on the stuff that you missed.

Review for 20 minutes 3x a day. This one really made a huge difference. Instead of sitting down for 2 hours, all I had to do was 20 minutes a few times a day and I remembered more info!

Change your study location when you start to lose your focus. As soon as you sit down somewhere new, it feels like you have new energy to study.

Lastly, make a “brain dump” wall before finals! This was super important. I wrote everything down on flashcards and then organized them and stuck them to my wall. Sometimes I would add to the wall and everyday I would stare at it and review. This really helped me and it might sound crazy to cover your wall with your notes but when you really need to pass a class it;s so worth it!!

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you’re gonna try any of these out!

... Read moreWhen it comes to tackling challenging courses like Physics for Engineers, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or even defeated, especially when the material seems complex and the labs tough. One of the most powerful yet often overlooked strategies is actively engaging with the material multiple times a day in short bursts, as opposed to cramming in long sessions. Reviewing for around 20 minutes three times a day not only reduces burnout but also improves retention tremendously. The brain absorbs and consolidates information better when given time to rest between sessions. Additionally, mixing up study environments can help. For example, starting your study session in a quiet library and then moving to a park or different room when focus wanes can boost your energy and maintain concentration. This change of scenery resets your mental alertness and makes each session feel fresh. Color-coding your notes is more than just aesthetic—it helps your brain categorize and quickly locate different types of information. Using a single color for important equations, keywords, or concepts helps in skimming notes efficiently and improves memory recall during exams. Developing self-quizzing habits, especially using tools like ChatGPT to generate practice questions based on your study topics, is a game changer. This method reveals your weak areas and allows you to focus your study time effectively rather than passively rereading notes. One of the most innovative strategies is creating a "brain dump" wall—writing every critical formula, concept, and definition on flashcards or sticky notes and displaying them prominently in your room. Repeated exposure by simply glancing at these notes daily cements the knowledge over time. It’s a visual way to keep crucial information top of mind without requiring additional study time. Incorporating these techniques systematically can transform how you approach difficult courses, turning stress into confidence. Remember, everyone can improve with the right methods—it's just about finding what works and staying consistent. Give these tips a try, and you could go from almost failing physics to mastering it and feeling proud of your success!
