1 yr 3mo Hair Update
Since I have been overseas for the past 10 ish months, I have been limited to the normal products I used which were Aunt Jackie’s Knot On My Watch & Argan Oil. I was pretty much forced to change my hair care routine because these two things do not exist here 😭. However, in doing so, I was able to do more research on ACTUAL black owned hair brands & for the longest I have been gradually moving towards black owned hair care lines because I love to support my community. I did *briefly* try Luster’s Pink Hair lotion but it was not something I loved for my own hair, not a bad product at all. To my surprise, I was able to find Taliah Waajid’s curl cream, which I absolutely love, & Kinky-Curly’s Knot Today which gives me the same, if not, better results that the Knot On My Watch Detangler. I was also able to find, on a quick work trip to Dubai, a Camille Rose Rosemary Oil which is also really lovely. For the commercial brands, I used the Blue Magic grease (a staple in the black household 🤣) for my dry scalp because the water is really harsh in the middle east and the sun doesn’t make it any better & the Olive Oil Aloe Vera Shampoo, which I actually really like, & the Mielle Rosemary Mint Conditioner for my wash days. I still moisturize and detangle every other day & stick to a low manipulation routine. Now I am working on not using too much tension because my edges are lowkey crying💔. My forever goal has always been to grow my curly hair to at least mid-back length. Since starting over, I am hoping that I can achieve that goal. So fingers crossed 🤞🏽🩷#naturalhairjourney #curlyhairstyles #blackownedhaircare #haircare #curlyhairproducts
