Nutrition + Pregnancy

1. Folate/ Folic Acid is very important for the baby’s neural tube development, so make sure you’re consuming the adequate amounts everyday, ESPECIALLY in the beginning of your pregnancy.

Note that it’s best to consume folic acid via food and not supplements.

2. Iron status is one of the most important things for pregnancy. Low iron status (iron deficiency or anemia) can result in less iron stores for the baby.

3. Iodine has a grand importance for thyroid function, therefore mom should be consuming the required dosages everyday. This dosage can usually be found with eating ionized salt 🧂.

There’s so much more! Lmk if you want me to share 💞

And remember, everyone’s needs are different bc every pregnancy is different 🩷

Folate, or folic acid, is crucial in the early stages of pregnancy for preventing neural tube defects. It's recommended to obtain folate through natural food sources, such as leafy greens, beans, and fortified cereals. Iron is another essential nutrient, as it helps build the baby's blood and prevents anemia in mothers. Consuming iron-rich foods like red meat, poultry, fish, lentils, and spinach can support adequate iron levels. Iodine is particularly important for maintaining thyroid function. Expecting mothers should ensure sufficient intake of iodine, often found in iodized salt, seafood, and dairy products. It's important to remember that individual dietary needs may vary based on personal health and pregnancy complications. Consulting with healthcare professionals can provide tailored advice. Adequate nutrition ensures healthy development for the baby and supports the mother's well-being during this critical time.
