... Read moreOkay, fellow foodies, let me tell you about my latest ALDI adventure! I swear, every time I pop in, I find something new and amazing, especially from their 'Specially Selected' range. This last trip was a goldmine for cheeses and sweet treats, and I just had to share my haul.
First up, the star of the show for me was definitely the Specially Selected Classic Italian Parmigiano Reggiano. Seriously, at just $5.49 for a good block, it’s an absolute steal! I usually spend so much more on good quality Parmesan, but this one from ALDI truly holds its own. It's imported from Italy, and you can really taste the authentic, nutty, and slightly sharp flavor. I grabbed both the block and the grated version – perfect for grating over pasta, sprinkling on salads, or just enjoying with a glass of wine. If you're looking to elevate your everyday cooking without breaking the bank, this is a non-negotiable buy. It’s rich, aged, and just what you need for that gourmet touch.
Beyond the Parmigiano, ALDI's cheese selection is always impressive. I picked up some Emporium Selection Blue Stilton Cheese, which is imported from the UK. It’s creamy, pungent, and fantastic on a cheese board with some crackers and fruit. For those who love cheddar, their Sartori Cheddar varieties, like the Extra Sharp & Rich or Smoked Cheddar, are fantastic. And for something a bit different, I couldn't resist the Emporium Selection Wensleydale with Apricot, Amaretto & White Chocolate. It's surprisingly delicious – a sweet, fruity cheese that would be perfect for dessert or a lighter snack. While I didn't find specific "lemon cheese," this Wensleydale definitely hits that unique, fruit-infused cheese craving!
Now, onto the sweets! ALDI never disappoints in this department. The Specially Selected Chocolate Lava Cakes with Caramel were calling my name. Imported from France and priced at just $2.99 for two, they are such a decadent treat. Pop them in the microwave for a minute, and you have a warm, gooey, restaurant-quality dessert right at home. I also grabbed a bag of Choceur Peanut Butter Cups. These are incredibly addictive – rich chocolate and a creamy peanut butter filling, perfect for satisfying that sweet tooth without overspending. And who can forget the Benton's Mini Waffle Cones? I got both the Milk Chocolate and the Sea Salt Caramel & Milk Chocolate ones – they’re perfect for a quick, fun snack or topping ice cream.
Oh, and just as a side note for anyone doing a full grocery run, I even spotted the Kirkwood Boneless Turkey Breast with Gravy Packet in the freezer section. While not a cheese or sweet, it’s a great option for an easy weeknight meal or meal prep, showing just how much variety ALDI offers beyond the specialty items.
My advice? Don't sleep on ALDI's 'Specially Selected' line or their seasonal offerings. You'll find gourmet-quality products at unbeatable prices. Happy shopping!
