I really enjoyed having a female lead who was also a powerhouse in her own right. This is the first out of the many mafia romance novels I’ve read where one of the bratva’s is inherited by a woman. Most women in mafia romance novels aren’t born of that life. I truly enjoyed Sofia’s story.

The pacing is so well done too. Not once was I bored or wanting to flip between various novels in between chapters. It didn’t feel rushed at all. There were beautiful moments woven into the violence spaces where the breaths taken allow the reader to connect to the characters.

I really enjoy the relationships between the boss and his second, especially when the second already sees the falling first, falling hard of the big bad boss. I, also, love the relationships between the bodyguard of the women and the women. I think these are two very fundamental relationships authors get right that adds beautiful depth to the characters as well as the depth in their own character right. Clara Dunn achieved that masterfully.

I am excited to begin the second novel and see where the series takes me next.
