Review of Luna Grill a Medditeranean Chain
𝙸’𝚖 𝚃𝚛𝚢𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙾𝚞𝚝 𝙻𝚞𝚗𝚊 𝙶𝚛𝚒𝚕𝚕, 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙰𝚕𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝙲𝚊𝚟𝚊. Luna Grill is a Mediterranean spot like Cava I’ve known for years but only finally tried. Luna Grill to me doesn’t seem to have a cult like following that Cava does which is interesting. Why not do a food review and compare the two?
To me Luna Grill is more so traditional Greek/Mediterranean where you can get gyros with fries whereas Cava is like a Mediterranean version of Chipotle with customizable bowls. At Cava you wait in a line to customize a bowl that comes with seasoned pita chips. Because of my gluten free diet I can’t have them which is a bummer though.
Cava is smart from a marketing perspective especially given how successful Chipotle is. The idea of a customizable bowl appeals to a younger people I feel. Cava and Luna Grill both have unique sauces such as a smoky harissa to make the food feel more exciting.
From Luna Grill I ordered the Vegan Bowl (in case you don’t know I’m vegan). It has falafel on a bed of spring mix with red cabbage, a little chickpea cucumber salad, topped with a tahini sauce. This bowl is basically greens with falafel which I don’t mind except it’s a bit pricey. Some hummus, baba ganoush or even quinoa would make the bowl more filling. Most other dishes on the menu looked reasonably priced though for what they include.
Overall I like both places but if I’m craving a side of french fries I want Luna Bowl, if not then Cava because Cava bowls are more filling. A customizable bowl from Cava is pretty neat but the downside is that causes a long line which I don’t want when I’m in a hurry.

And let's be real, the fact that Luna Grill offers delicious french fries is a huge win for many people, including me, when Cava doesn't really have that as an option. It's often the small details like this that sway my cravings. Beyond the gyros, their menu boasts hearty plates like the Chicken Kabob Plate, which comes with rice, salad, and pita, making for a well-rounded and substantial meal. The Mediterranean Salad with grilled salmon or chicken is another fantastic choice if you're aiming for something lighter yet still packed with flavor and nutrients. And if you're like me and wished for more dips in your vegan bowl, their hummus and baba ganoush are definite crowd-pleasers that you can easily add as sides to any meal. They're wonderfully creamy and flavorful. The atmosphere at Luna Grill is typically fast-casual – clean, bright, and efficient, making it perfect for a quick lunch break or a relaxed dinner with friends and family. The pricing feels fair for the quality and portion sizes, especially when you're getting a full plate or a hearty wrap. It often feels like a more traditional sit-down place compared to the assembly-line style of Cava, which can be a plus if you're not in a hurry or want to enjoy a more conventional dining experience. Dietary accommodations are also a strong point. Beyond my vegan choice, Luna Grill is generally good about labeling allergens and offering options for various diets. If you're gluten-free, opting for plates without pita or asking for modifications is usually straightforward. The variety means there’s often something for everyone, making it a great spot for groups with diverse tastes.
