How I’m learning to be more gentle with myself

2025/9/2 Edited to

... Read moreMany people find it challenging to treat themselves with the same kindness and compassion they freely offer others. This struggle often stems from inner doubts or unresolved trauma that unconsciously influences how we view ourselves. It's important to recognize that being gentle with yourself is not a sign of weakness but rather an essential step towards healing and personal growth. Taking it slow and creating moments to nurture yourself can make a big difference. For example, extending your shower time, enjoying your favorite songs a little louder, or journaling your thoughts helps build a safe haven where you can breathe and express your true feelings. This practice not only fosters self-compassion but also nurtures creativity and emotional release. Additionally, allowing yourself to receive love and compliments from others without deflecting or doubting them can be transformative. Trusting the positive words and actions of the people around you reinforces the belief that you deserve kindness and respect, both from others and from yourself. Communicating openly with loved ones about your needs and feelings—even on tough days—helps cultivate a supportive environment. Embracing this vulnerability can strengthen relationships, showing that you deserve patience and understanding. Above all, remind yourself daily that you are full of love and kindness and worthy of the care you so generously give others. It’s perfectly okay to need a little extra compassion sometimes, but also remember to seek that compassion within yourself. This journey toward gentleness is ongoing, and every small step is a meaningful act of self-healing and empowerment.

A handwritten note on a lined notebook page titled 'DISCERNMENT.' It defines discernment as understanding good/evil and thinking like God, lists Bible verses (Psalm 119:125, Acts 17:11), and explains how to receive it through prayer, Scripture, obedience, and removing judgment. It also provides biblical examples from John, Romans, and Hebrews.
