Learning to Listen to My Body Soft Era Fitness 🌸🧘🏽‍♀️

For years, my identity in the gym was built on going HARD. Like the heavy lifting, high intensity, pushing myself no matter what. And for a long time, that worked until it stopped. Lately, I’ve been in a season where the workouts that used to feel empowering started feeling anxious, tense, and overwhelming. I’d go in excited and walk out feeling like my nervous system was shocked. And honestly that was really hard for me to accept at first. I kept asking myself “Why can’t I just push through like I always have?”

“Why does something that once made me feel strong feel so heavy now?” But the truth is… I didn’t lose anything. I didn’t fall off. I didn’t “get lazy.” I just evolved. My life changed. My stress shifted. My capacity shifted. And my body was asking me to shift with it.

This season has been all about listening, slowing down, tuning in, and choosing movement that nourishes me. Some days that’s strength training other days it’s yoga, stretching, walking or simply rest.

And I’m learning to give myself grace in all of it.

Because the soft, gentle, compassionate woman I’m becoming starts with how I treat me.

If you’ve been feeling anxious, overstimulated, or disconnected from your workouts please hear me and this out load:

You’re simply in a different season.

And it’s okay to adjust.

It’s okay to pause.

Remember, feeling anxious or overstimulated by workouts doesn't mean you have lost your strength or motivation. Instead, it indicates your body’s awareness and need to recalibrate. Integrating mindful movement and rest days can enhance overall performance and mental well-being in the long run. By embracing this compassionate approach, you not only preserve your physical capabilities but also foster mental clarity and emotional peace. Trust that your strength is still within you; it just looks different now. This transformational phase can be a powerful journey toward self-love, empowerment, and sustainable fitness.
