A complete pink keyboard build 🌺

Pink is one of my favorite colors, even though I don't use this color a lot in my desk setup. Last week I received the most gorgeous pastel-pink keyboard base, and I just had to make an all-pink build with it🌷 The parts I used are;

🎀 Monsgeek M1 V3 barebone

🎀 Akko Stellar Rose switches

🎀 Womier Jelly keycaps

Details on the keyboard base:

- 75% layout

- Aluminum base

- Custom programmable knob

- 5-pin hot swappable

- USB-C wired connection

- South facing RGB LEDs

- QMK/VIA support

- Gasket mount

I am obsessed with how this build turned out! The RGB looks amazing with the pink jelly keycaps ✨

... Read moreI've been absolutely loving my new pink custom keyboard, and honestly, the joy it brings goes way beyond just how stunning it looks on my desk! When I set out to build this, I wasn't just thinking about aesthetics; I was dreaming of the perfect typing experience – you know, that satisfying thock or subtle clack that makes every keystroke feel just right. That's where the 'ASMR' part of a custom keyboard really comes into play. For this build, I specifically chose the Akko Stellar Rose switches. They're linear switches, which give a really smooth, consistent press without a tactile bump or loud click. This contributes to a very pleasant, almost muted sound profile, especially when combined with a good keyboard base. Speaking of the base, the Monsgeek M1 V3 is a true gem. Its aluminum base provides a significant heft that helps to dampen vibrations, and the gasket mount system is a game-changer. What a gasket mount does is suspend the PCB and plate within the case using soft material, which gives the keys a bit of flex and absorbs impact, resulting in a softer, more uniform sound and feel across the entire keyboard. It completely transforms the typing sensation from a stiff board to something much more cushioned and acoustically pleasing. The Womier Jelly keycaps aren't just for looks, though they are incredibly cute in pastel pink! Their material and profile also contribute to the overall sound. Different keycap materials and thicknesses can subtly alter the sound of each keystroke. These particular keycaps, combined with the linear switches and gasket mount, create a sound that's satisfyingly uniform and quiet, perfect for those who appreciate a less intrusive, more 'thocky' sound. If you're chasing that true ASMR sound, experimenting with switch lubrication and adding foam within the case can elevate it even further. It's amazing how much you can fine-tune! I also really appreciate the practicality of the 75% layout. It's compact enough to save desk space but still retains essential keys like function row and arrow keys, which is critical for my workflow. The custom programmable knob is a feature I never knew I needed but now can't live without – I've set mine for volume control, and it's so convenient. And for anyone dipping their toes into custom keyboards, the 5-pin hot-swappable sockets are a godsend. It means I can swap out switches anytime I want without any soldering, allowing me to try different types and find my absolute favorites, or just change things up when I'm feeling adventurous. The South facing RGB LEDs on the Monsgeek M1 V3 are another detail I adore. They ensure that the RGB lighting shines beautifully through my keycaps, making the whole setup glow without any interference, especially with popular Cherry profile keycaps. Plus, having QMK/VIA support means I have full control over key remapping and macros, making this keyboard truly my own. Building this pink custom keyboard has been such a rewarding experience. It's more than just a tool; it's a statement piece that perfectly blends my love for aesthetics with high-performance functionality. If you've ever thought about building your own, I highly recommend it. The journey of choosing each component, assembling it, and then typing on something you've created is incredibly satisfying. Plus, the end result is a keyboard that not only looks fantastic but also offers an unparalleled typing and auditory experience!
