Why Do Customers Have To Make Life So Hard?

It’s my job not my company!🥺The lady literally asked me for help looking for a size she wanted I told her we didn’t have it in big kid sizes only baby mind you I looked it up on the computer and all to make sure before I told her that. She then snatched the sweatshirt out my hands and started telling me I’m confused get somebody else being so rudeee like huh? It took a manager telling her the same thing for her to understand then she proceeded to tell my manager that girl is confused she didn’t tell me that blah blah blah like WHAT? I SAID THE SAME THING SHE DID and I can hear you and also I have feelings UGHH HELP!💔#shifts #lemon8challenge #AskLemon8 #cozychats #fyp

... Read moreWorking retail or customer service can often feel overwhelming, especially when customers become rude or dismissive. Many employees, like the author, experience situations where despite their best efforts to assist, customers respond with hostility or disbelief. This emotional strain not only affects job satisfaction but can also lead to burnout and depression, as reflected in the image captions where the worker shares feeling disrespected and struggling financially despite working hard. It’s important to recognize that customer interactions aren’t always easy, but they require patience and resilience. Managers play a crucial role in supporting staff during these difficult moments — as seen where a manager’s intervention helped clarify the product availability to a demanding customer. Such support validates the employee’s effort and can help de-escalate conflicts. For frontline workers, setting clear boundaries and practicing self-care are essential. Sharing experiences with peers or online communities can provide emotional release and useful advice on navigating challenging encounters. Employers also benefit from training programs that equip staff with communication techniques to handle aggressive or uncooperative customers more effectively. Overall, while customers may sometimes make service feel difficult, maintaining empathy for both sides helps foster a more respectful environment. This awareness is vital as countless workers share similar frustrations balancing job duties and personal wellbeing.

As a business owner, I honestly look at customers as being an entirely different life form unless they prove otherwise 😅 this helped to lower my expectations tremendously so that I’d stop being offended by the type of games customers like to play. So when they do stuff like this? I tell myself “ofc. They’re not an intelligent human being, that’s why they would do something like that” 😅😅

Man, I quit McDonald’s about a week and a half ago and I have had customers left and right be rude sometimes for no reason and yes I’ve called customers “f**king idiots” behind their backs (I’m not tryna get fired) and when my Assistant GM (her sister is the GM, my main boss), when she was trying to resolve the situation that I dealt with and thought was resolved, the customer was irate and I started getting irate and then she told me “Nikki, just go to the back. Go to the back! Please!” So I did what she said and I was mad as hell. When I say that customer got me MAD, he got me Satan-level mad. But then my AGM came to where I was and she helped me to calm down because bro, I was about to go off on that customer because he really thought I was gonna take him being rude to me. I just couldn’t do anything. (Plus I’m on PTI, so I have to stay working and crime free, no joke intended)
