New iPad mini ✨
💙🫧 the cutest iPad will forever be the iPad mini
Okay, so you're eyeing the new iPad mini, and trust me, I get it! When I was looking for a compact powerhouse that could keep up with my digital planning and creative urges, the iPad mini kept popping up. It's truly the cutest and most portable iPad out there, but is it the one for you? Let me share my journey and what I've discovered, especially if you're wondering about specific generations, Procreate, or just how it fits into daily life. First off, let's talk generations. Many people are still loving their iPad mini 5th generation, and for good reason! It’s solid. But if you're looking at the 6th generation or considering an upgrade to what's new, you're stepping into a different league. The 6th gen brought a complete redesign, a bigger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, and the A15 Bionic chip, making it significantly more powerful. The jump to USB-C and compatibility with the Apple Pencil 2 (and now even the Apple Pencil Pro with the latest models, as hinted by the OCR!) makes a huge difference. For me, the edge-to-edge screen of the 6th gen was a game-changer for immersive reading and drawing. Now, for all my fellow digital artists and planners out there asking about Procreate layers and performance – this is where the iPad mini truly shines for its size. Despite its compact form factor, the A15 Bionic chip in the 6th gen handles Procreate remarkably well. I’ve personally worked on projects with a decent number of layers without experiencing significant lag. Of course, if you’re pushing hundreds of layers on a massive canvas, a Pro might be better, but for everyday digital planning, sketching, and intricate illustrations, it’s fantastic. The portability means I can whip it out and draw anywhere – coffee shop, park, even on the couch! Speaking of lifestyle, the iPad mini is basically my digital best friend. Its ultra portable design at 8.3 inches means it slips into any small bag, making it perfect for on-the-go productivity. I use it for everything from reading e-books during my commute to taking handwritten notes in meetings (especially with the new math notes in the calculator app feature, which is a lifesaver!). And let's not forget entertainment – watching shows or browsing social media on that crisp display is a joy. The fact that I can also remove the background from images in the notes app thanks to Apple Intelligence features just makes my workflow smoother. Storage is another big question, especially if you're into creative apps. Is 128GB enough? For me, it depends on your usage. If you're primarily using it for digital planning, web browsing, and some light photo editing, 128GB is usually ample. However, if you plan to download a lot of large games, store high-resolution videos, or keep many Procreate files with multiple layers, you might find yourself managing storage more frequently. I opted for 128GB and use cloud storage extensively for my larger files, which works perfectly. It’s a balance between cost and convenience. Choosing an iPad is always a personal decision, but if portability, powerful performance for creative tasks like Procreate, and seamless integration into a modern digital lifestyle are your priorities, the iPad mini is a strong contender. With gorgeous finishes like blue, purple starlight, and space gray, there's a style for everyone. It truly embodies the idea of having a full iPad experience in the palm of your hand. So, will you be upgrading, or is the new iPad mini calling your name?
