Make Tiny Patterns With Me 🤗💛

The art project today is divided into cool and warm colors. I love drawings that have that contrast. Each box has its own little pattern that you can create. On the darker color boxes I used my White Acrylic Paint Pen to make the pattern stand out.

I colored each box with my alcohol markers then I used my Micron pen or acrylic white paint pen to draw in a variety of patterns. Try to create as many different patterns as you can. Repeat some of them if you want. I can’t wait to see what you create! 😃👏🏼

If you don’t have any colored markers or pencils this will look great as a pencil or pen drawing too.

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a deeper dive into my recent art project that many of you loved – creating those super cool tiny patterns using a simple color grid. It’s such a mindful and fun way to unleash your creativity, and honestly, the results are always so satisfying! If you’re looking for 'how to make cool designs' or just some fresh 'art ideas,' you’re in the right place. First things first, let's talk about setting up your canvas. The original post showed a 'blank paper with a hand-drawn grid,' which is exactly how I started! You don't need fancy tools. Just grab a ruler and a pencil to create your grid. You can go for uniform squares or mix it up with different sized rectangles, even triangles if you're feeling adventurous. This grid acts as your playground for all those 'unique designs' you're about to make. Don't worry about perfection; sometimes the slightly imperfect grids add more character to your 'vibrant artwork.' Now for the colors – this is where the magic of 'warm and cool colors' really comes into play. I love how they create such a striking contrast. For my cool sections, I usually pick shades of blues, greens, and purples. Think ocean hues or a frosty morning sky. Then, for the warm sections, I reach for reds, oranges, and yellows – like a fiery sunset or cozy autumn leaves. You don't need a huge collection of markers; even a few shades in each category can make a big impact. When coloring, try to keep your cool tones on one side of the grid and warm on the other, or alternate rows for a checkerboard effect. This separation really makes the patterns pop later on. Once your grid is beautifully colored, it’s time for the really fun part: drawing in your 'intricate patterns.' This is where you get to experiment with 'tiny designs patterns.' I often start with simple geometric shapes like circles, squares, or diamonds, repeating them in a row or column. Then, I might add smaller dots, lines, or squiggles inside those shapes. Think about creating textures – a box of tiny dashes can look like fabric, while a box of swirls can feel like water. One of my favorite techniques, as seen in my 'white pen on darker backgrounds' technique, is using a 'white acrylic paint pen' on the darker colored sections. It makes those patterns really stand out and gives them an almost embroidered look. Don't be afraid to try different pressure with your pen to get varying line thicknesses. If you’re wondering 'what are some cool patterns' to try, here are a few ideas: Abstract lines: Just draw random lines, crossing and overlapping, filling the space. Checkerboard variations: Instead of solid squares, fill them with tiny dots or stripes. Leaf or floral motifs: Simplify natural shapes into repetitive patterns. Zigzags and waves: Play with movement and flow. Basket weave: Simple overlapping lines can create a woven effect. And for those who might not have alcohol markers or a specific 'acrylic paint pen,' don't fret! This project looks absolutely stunning as a black and white piece too. Just use a regular pen, fine-liners, or even a pencil. The focus is on the contrast of patterns, not just colors. You can still create amazing visual interest with varying line weights and densities. Once you’ve filled your entire grid, step back and admire your 'completed artwork!' It’s amazing how a simple concept can lead to such a unique and complex piece. You can frame it, use it as a background for another art piece, or even scan it and use it as digital wallpaper. The possibilities are endless. I really hope this encourages you to grab your pens and markers and start creating your own 'cool art patterns' today! It's an incredibly rewarding experience.
