The version of me that survived #survival

2/27 Edited to

... Read moreLiving through tough challenges often means switching to survival mode, where your body and mind are on constant alert, ready to face threats or difficulties. While this state can be empowering and necessary in moments of crisis, it is also exhausting over time. I have found that the version of myself that survived was truly unstoppable, driven by sheer willpower and resilience. She pushed forward when it felt impossible to keep going, always vigilant and fighting to stay alive and strong. However, survival is not meant to be permanent. After a while, the constant tension and fatigue start to take a toll. It's important to recognize when the battle is over and to allow yourself to step away from the fight. I came to understand that honoring the survivor within me means also creating space for rest and healing. I needed to transition from survival mode into a state of safety and peace, which isn’t easy but is critical for long-term wellbeing. This change from ‘fight or flight’ to healing is a journey. It involves acknowledging the fears and pain carried from the past but gently moving forward with self-compassion. Feeling safe doesn’t mean forgetting the hardships; rather, it means giving yourself permission to be vulnerable and to rebuild with kindness. If you've experienced phases of extreme survival mode, whether due to trauma, illness, or emotional struggles, remember that it is okay to rest now. Healing is the next chapter, and embracing it can lead to a renewed sense of self, one that includes strength, peace, and balance. The version of you that survives was incredible—but the version that heals deserves to thrive too.
