Outlining my tower of terror stained glass painting!

4 days agoEdited to

... Read moreWorking on the Tower of Terror stained glass painting was an eye-opening experience that pushed my boundaries as an artist. I had always admired stained glass as a medium, but outlining such a complex and iconic image required a level of patience and precision I hadn't fully anticipated. One of the most interesting challenges was mastering the smooth lines necessary to bring the stained glass effect to life. It’s not just about drawing—it's about envisioning how light would pass through each section, and how colors like deep purple could best be layered to mimic that glow. Deep purples can be notoriously tricky to work with because they tend to be transparent or dull if not applied carefully. I spent a significant amount of time experimenting with different paint brands and layering techniques to make the colors truly opaque and vibrant. This painting became a journey not just of skill but of embracing new artistic territories. Normally, I stick with familiar palettes and methods, but this project encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. For example, I never thought I’d use so much purple, yet it became a defining feature of the painting’s mood and atmosphere. Sharing this piece in my videos made me realize how much process and storytelling resonate with viewers. It’s more than a final product—it’s about showing the ups and downs, the thought processes, and sometimes unexpected changes that occur. For fellow artists or enthusiasts considering stained glass painting or similar projects, I’d say: give yourself permission to experiment and accept that some parts will take longer than expected. Also, balancing this art project with important life events added a unique layer to the creative process. I was preparing for my wedding around the same time, which made the completion of the painting feel even more meaningful. It’s proof that art and life often intertwine in surprising ways, and our experiences outside the studio can deeply influence our creative work. If you’re inspired by stained glass art or exploring new mediums, take it one step at a time and enjoy the journey. Sometimes the process itself is where the magic happens—not just the final piece.
