wish I would of known 💉☕️

☕💉 Let’s talk about it.

When I first started my GLP-1 journey, I didn’t realize just how sensitive my body would become — especially to things like caffeine. I used to down cups without thinking twice. Now? Half a cup sometimes hits too hard.

Why?

GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying, meaning everything — including caffeine — is absorbed differently. The result?

✅ Jitters

✅ Nausea

✅ Heart palpitations

✅ Energy crashes

✅ Anxiety

It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s more common than people think. And if your morning coffee suddenly feels like rocket fuel… this might be why.

Here’s what helped me:

• Swapping my coffee for protein first thing

• Cutting back to half-caff or just sipping slower

• Listening to my body and pivoting when needed

If you’re noticing something similar, you’re not alone.

Let’s talk about it — what’s your experience with caffeine since starting your glp1

♥️

If you haven’t started your GLP one journey it’s time to take your shot.

... Read moreIf you’re starting on GLP-1 medications, it’s important to understand how they affect your body’s digestion and absorption processes—especially for substances like caffeine. GLP-1 drugs slow gastric emptying, which means food and drinks stay longer in your stomach. This delayed absorption can cause caffeine to hit your system much harder and faster, resulting in common side effects such as jitters, nausea, heart palpitations, energy crashes, and even anxiety. Many patients notice that their usual caffeine intake, like a full cup of coffee, suddenly feels overwhelming. Some report increased nervousness or an uncomfortable rapid heartbeat shortly after consuming caffeine. This sensitivity varies among individuals, but it’s more common than many expect. Adjusting your caffeine habits can make a big difference. One effective method is to reduce your caffeine dose—switching from regular coffee to half-caff options or drinking it more slowly to help your body process it gently. Also, pairing coffee with protein or a small meal can buffer caffeine’s effects and stabilize energy levels. Listening carefully to your body’s signals is key; if caffeine causes discomfort, consider taking a break or switching to caffeine-free alternatives like herbal teas. It’s also worth noting that caffeine tolerance can change as your GLP-1 treatment progresses. What feels overwhelming at the start may adjust over time. Discuss any concerning symptoms with your healthcare provider to ensure your regimen fits your lifestyle and health goals. Remember, while GLP-1 injections are powerful for weight loss and metabolic health, they bring new dynamics to everyday habits like coffee drinking. Being proactive and informed lets you enjoy your morning cup without unexpected side effects. Have you experienced changes with caffeine since starting GLP-1? Sharing tips and stories can support others navigating this journey.

I love or should I say I did love coffee but starting my sixth week today and I just can’t stomach it. I too have felt the jitters and anxiousness and tummy feeling unsettled but lately I can’t even tolerate the weight of it in my mouth. It feels thick and heavy of that makes sense. Dos anyone else experience that? It’s like my throat kinda closes and my tongue feels the weight of it and I want to spit it out. It’s like my body is say no girl that isn’t for you…anymore. 😭

I have experienced the palpitations with the coke zero specifically. I can do diet coke and drink matcha for sure. I just cur coffee completely out all together. I cant do expressos at all. I feel as if my heart is going to beat out of my chest. My body definitely has changed but for the better with my wonderful doctor guiding me.
