Let’s make some coasters

They're not just incredibly fun to create, but they also make the most thoughtful, personalized gifts. Once the photos are in place, I pour the remaining resin over them, making sure to cover the photos completely and fill the mold to my desired thickness. A quick pass with a heat gun or a lighter (held a few inches away!) helps pop any surface bubbles, leaving a crystal-clear finish. Then comes the hardest part: waiting! Most epoxy resins need at least 24 hours to cure to a touch-dry state, and up to 72 hours for a full, hard cure. I always let mine cure in a dust-free environment. One mistake I made early on was trying to demold too soon – resulted in sticky, bendy coasters! Definitely wait for them to be completely hard. For those of you wanting to elevate your coaster ideas, consider experimenting with different backgrounds, colors, or even embedding small charms. I've also learned that sealing your photos with a thin layer of Mod Podge or a clear spray sealant before embedding them can prevent the resin from making them look translucent or discolored, especially if you're using thinner paper. This step is particularly helpful for preserving the vibrant colors of your precious memories. And remember, working in layers can create stunning depth if you're embedding multiple items.
