From first apartment to first house post divorce 🥰

I was blessed to be able to move into my first apartment post divorce 1 month after separation! I stayed with a friend for a month until I found it. It was not an ideal situation as I had my dog and my friends already had a full house with another family member moved in, plus WFH. It was a little stressful but I was more than grateful to have a place to go at all for that time period!

October 2022-

Found my first apartment as a lease takeover. I was really struggling with coming up with deposits and first months rent on my income with my car payment and everything else. The universe blessed me with a nice one bedroom apartment lease takeover, and the tenants already paid the months rent, so it gave me the much needed grace period to come up with rent! I only had to pay half of a normal deposit. It all worked out and I cannot be more grateful 🥹 I didn’t have hardly anything as I was starting over, I had friends and family jump in and do what they could to help me find things I needed one way or another!

Fast forward to May 2023, the lease takeover was only 6 months and I really did not want to renew at end of lease (stayed same from previous tenants) so I was rushing around to try and find something- again, knowing they were doing to raise rent and it was already a lot for me.

I had a friend I knew from school days, and through mutuals that was looking for a roommate to help her get a little break on bills. She had 2 kids which again, wasn’t ideal for me but they weren’t there full time. She traveled a lot for work too.

So I stayed with her for a year with a big rent cut while I tried to get myself back on track. I got myself into therapy, did some much needed healing and since rent was half as much as I was paying,

I was able to go do a little more than normal which was nice.

June 2024-

I was again getting worried about finding a place

Again because rent prices are insane and I knew I don’t want to go to another apartment. I was so busy manifesting a place in the country or something and a place where my baby girl would have more space, and I wasn’t going to settle again.

Couldn’t find a rent home. I was at the end of options and then someone saw me talking about needing a place on social media and reached out! They offered to let me rent their extra house on their property and I was shocked!! Out in the country- and a house- no way!

It may be small- but it’s just my dog and I-

and it’s honestly perfect for us! Not much different than the size of an apartment!

We’ve been through a lot these last couple of years but finally being in a place out of the city, and where I can feel safe is a big deal for me, and it’s been very helpful in my healing.
