How to remove stove top burn stains 🧼

Here is a tip on getting your stove top looking fresh & clean after getting those tough to remove burn stains 🔥

... Read moreOkay, so we all know that feeling when you've cooked up a storm, only to find a war zone of burnt-on food and stubborn stains on your stovetop later. It's the bane of my kitchen existence! But over time, I've gathered a few go-to tips and tricks that go beyond just one method to keep my stove looking spick and span. Trust me, a clean stovetop makes the whole kitchen feel so much fresher! First off, let's talk about the secret weapon from my initial post: the pumice stone. Yes, you read that right! It sounds a bit unconventional for cleaning, but for those hard to remove burn stains on enameled cast iron grates or *metal burner pans*, it can be a lifesaver. You absolutely HAVE to use it gently and make sure the surface is wet. I usually wet the pumice stone and the stained area, then lightly rub in small circles. The key here is gentle pressure and checking your progress often. It works by essentially sanding down the burnt-on gunk without scratching the underlying metal if used correctly. I wouldn't recommend it for glass or ceramic stovetops, though – stick to softer methods for those! But what about burnt food prevention and general home care for your stove? My biggest tip is to tackle spills *as soon as they happen*, if it's safe to do so. A quick wipe with a damp cloth before food has a chance to bake on can save you so much scrubbing later. For dried-on spills that aren't quite 'burnt' yet, a paste of baking soda and a little water, left to sit for 15-20 minutes, works wonders. Then, just wipe away. This is great for an overall deep clean during your regular home care routine. Now, a lot of people wonder about stronger cleaners, like *Ajax*. While powerful, abrasive cleansers like Ajax or Comet should be used with extreme caution on stovetops. For stainless steel, they can often dull the finish or cause microscopic scratches that trap dirt. For glass or ceramic, they're generally a no-go as they can scratch the surface permanently. If you do use them on metal parts, always test in an inconspicuous area first, and make sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid leaving a residue. Personally, I prefer a good degreaser spray for greasy build-up, or a specialized ceramic stovetop cleaner for those delicate glass surfaces. For really tough spots, sometimes a flat razor blade (held at a very shallow angle!) can carefully lift off burnt bits from glass tops, but again, extreme care is needed! Beyond specific stains, consistent home care makes a huge difference. I try to wipe down my stovetop every day after cooking. Once a week, I'll remove the grates and burner caps (if I have a gas stove) and give them a good soak in hot, soapy water. Sometimes, a mixture of white vinegar and water can help cut through grease and leave a streak-free shine. Remember, different stovetop materials need different care. Glass-ceramic tops need non-abrasive cleaners and soft cloths, while stainless steel benefits from cleaners designed for it, wiped with the grain. Keeping up with these little habits means less time spent on deep cleaning those dreaded burn stains later on! Hope these extra tips help you keep your kitchen sparkling!
