A true love story and it’s mine🤟
Young love is so pure and innocent with the world in front of us. Billy and I (Cricket) met at the age of 15 and quickly fell head over heels in love with each other.
Three years later we were married at Dominion Skating Center in Culpeper, VA.
We knew when we said our vows to each other we really meant them even thought we never dreamed of what was to come. In the early years of our marriage we had two daughters and everything looked all rosie.
In 1999 life stopped as we knew it, I worked as a secretary and Billy had a construction business. Billy was working in Roanoke, VA as an electric and trim man, with the touch of one button by a stranger Billy was dropped from 30ft onto his head, he hit the edge of the sidewalk which split his skull in half. It rendered him as a quadriplegic therefore changing our lives forever. The phone call came into my work telling me to get to Roanoke now there has been an accident.
I immediately had a perfect peace about the situation the Dr said Billy had a 0% chance of living but I quickly started calling Pastor’s around the world and we began to pray, God heard our prayers. I became Billy’s 24/7 caregiver with many challenges, prayers, faith and strength Billy lived 16 years even though the Dr. gave him no chance of living.
God had other plans for us, we began sharing our story to thousands, we wrote a book “Ours Will Be Different”, Billy became a college Professor and he preached in the Jail ministry, along with traveling to other churches to preach.
I have learned to never to look back on the dreams that we had but to look forward to what we are going to do now. When someone tries to fill you with negativity move on, lean on each other with the faith that you have in God.
